There is something unique and special in the morning in Melbourne, when the sunlight begins to shine to reach the skyscrapers there. With a time that is 4 hours faster than Indonesia, of course people there have started their activities before the sun really shines. When leaving the hotel, we were immediately greeted with fresh and cool air, not to mention the distinctive sound of the tram hum and also people who were already busy with their respective activities.
Our destination today is one of the famous universities in Melbourne. We use the tram to go to the University of Melbourne, everyone will be given a card called “Myki” for use of the tram.
Upon arrival there, we were amazed by the view, it was really adorable. The thing that surprised us was that we got a tour guide from Indonesia, she was one of the students at the University of Melbourne who would graduate soon.
During the campus tour, we were very happy and excited. Our tour guide gave us a lot of information about the buildings there and also the habits of the students at certain times.
We entered one of the teaching buildings, such as classrooms, rest areas, practicals, and so on, where the University of Melbourne really facilitates its students with complete and comfortable classes. There is one building called “Arts West Building,” and if you look from the top of the building, there are pictures of several people there.
Because the day is getting later and also the sun is getting hotter, but the very cold wind also coincides with the end of our campus tour, we ate at “South Lawn,” where the place is like a park that students here usually use to relax or play with friends.
Because we still have time left, we agreed for the next destination, namely the “State Library of Victoria,” which can be accessed by tram too! The State Library of Victoria is the oldest library in Australia, which is very large and also beautiful. They provide public places for free, there you can access many things, from the internet, computers, books, quiet study places, mini museums, and so on. In front of it there is also “Central Melbourne.” It’s like a central place where people often visit just to refresh or buy something they need!
As it was getting late and it was our break time, around 5 pm Melbourne time we gathered in front of the tram station to return to the hotel. As usual, this break time is often used by class 5 international students to explore the city of Melbourne at night. Only using Google Maps and information boards on the road as their guide, although sometimes they get lost far from the city or get on the wrong tram and are confused about the way home, it is a fun story for them and their friends.
