(16/11/24) Monash University. I’m pretty sure everyone’s heard of this top-tier university. Located in the land of kangaroos, Monash is ranked 5th in Australia and one of the best in the world.
Since the 5th grade of International Class program is currently in Australia, we definitely couldn’t pass up the chance for a university visit—an opportunity to learn more and get a deeper insight into this prestigious institution.
This chance came our way last Thursday. We proudly donned our signature blue batik uniforms, which just so happen to match the official colors of Monash University.
While we’ve mostly been getting around by tram or on foot during our stay in Australia, we kicked off the day with a nice walk over to Monash College, which was just a short stroll from where we were staying.
At Monash College, we got a wealth of info on how to apply, what the teaching and facilities are like, plus a campus tour. Monash College serves as the hub for students pursuing diploma programs, and it also offers special English language classes for international students to help them thrive academically.
After soaking in all the info and admiring Monash College, we headed to the tram station to catch a ride to Monash University. But here’s the twist—Monash University is located way out on the outskirts of Melbourne. So after a long tram ride, we had to transfer to a bus to get there.
And finally, we made it to Monash University! Stepping off the bus, we were immediately in awe of the stunning campus buildings. The decision to go with modern architecture? Absolutely spot on. The vibe was similar to when we visited The University of Melbourne on our second day in Australia. That place not only impressed us with its academic achievements but also had us staring in awe at its classic-style buildings.
Still in awe of Monash’s impressive architecture, we went on a deeper tour around the campus. One of the highlights was visiting The Woodside Building for Technology and Design, where students studying Engineering, Design, and IT have their classes. The architecture here was absolutely mind-blowing, even from a distance.
The campus tour wrapped up with a stop at the Monash University merchandise store, where we grabbed some official gear to remember the day by.
After soaking up all the Monash goodness, we were directed to hop on the bus, which would take us back to the hotel, with a tram ride to wrap things up.
Just like any other day, after finishing up the day’s activities scheduled by the school, we were given free time in the evening. All the 5th grade of International Class students got until 10 PM to explore more of Melbourne on our own. What a wonderful day we had in Melbourne!
